Crum's Custom Welding

If you like your 80 Series on the rocks, you're gonna bend your rear control arms. After putting up with this for years, I called on Dave Crum of CCW to make me a set. I picked up a set of used 80 Series control arms from CruiserParts.net and handed them off to Dave. He removed the stock bushing ends and welded them onto 1/4" wall DOM tube. Replacement bushings came from Christo, and are a pretty blue color. A quick coat of Rustolium gloss black made it look almost professional.

So far, all I have been able to do is scratch the paint. I'm done bending these.

The other vulnerability is the rear drive shaft. I've had my original re-tubed 3 times so far, but none of the drive shaft places around here will do heavy duty tubing. They claim it's too hard to balance. Spent a fortune with RockStomper, but they use sub standard parts. The tubing held up well, but the universals and slip yolk (both Spicer) were crap. Wound up throwing that shaft into the recycling pile.

Bought a decent used one from CruiserParts and back up to CCW I went. Dave was able to source the correct outside diameter DOM tubing, but in 1/4" wall. He welded the OEM ends on and now I have a serious rock shaft. Not only is it heavy duty, but it runs smooth as silk on the highway. Now my street shaft is a spare. Dave is the man.
